New ATS Report Saves Time for Hiring Managers

Interview Coordinator (www.interviewcoordinator.com) is introducing an exciting new feature. The new “pay as you use” online interview management and applicant tracking system now includes innovative reporting functions designed to help Hiring Managers save time and money.
With the push of a button, Interview Coordinator will generate a single comprehensive report on a candidate. The report contains the consolidated up to date interview results and comments or opinions from the various collaborators involved in the job campaign.
Stuart Hobbs, Managing Director comments: “Interview Coordinator already provided an efficient method for multiple contributors to record their comments on a candidate and this neat new feature allows the Hiring Manager to review all those opinions at a glance in one report. Anything that helps reduce the need for unnecessary meetings, separate reports or numerous phone calls with fellow collaborators is going to save time and money and streamline candidate selection.”
When the new reporting function is used in conjunction with the existing online video options, it can  eliminate even more wasteful duplication of effort. The Hiring Manager, at their convenience, can now review a candidate’s status and interview performance with the knowledge that the report will be fully up to date and accurate.
Interview Coordinator is available through any browser, where users pay on a ‘per job campaign’ basis and the system is currently available on a 60 day FREE trial.

How Much do Video Interviews Help Reduce Carbon Emissions?

Recording a video on your PC webcam, or digital camcorder is fairly commonplace these days. It is therefore unsurprising that video is being much more widely used to help select candidates for a job vacancy. However, can using video to avoid unnecessary travel for face to face interviews really claim to help with reducing carbon emissions?

When considering this question, it might be best to look at the way candidates have traditionally been screened and selected before video technology became widely available. Most recruitment campaigns follow a basic structure. A long list of applicants is compiled. A screening exercise is then undertaken to discard those who are unsuitable. Leading to a shortlist of the best people being invited in for an interview.

Looking at this process, the amount of carbon saved will depend on the reduction of unnecessary journeys. How many journeys are saved will perhaps depend on how enthusiastically an organisation uses video in the hiring process. Using videos within initial screening process can certainly help save unnecessary journeys. It could even create a better pool of shortlisted candidates.

Videos can then be reviewed by multiple campaign contributors whenever it is convenient. This can make it easier for more people at the hiring organisation to provide better, more informed opinions on each of the candidates.

In theory, the more information decision makers can access about each candidate, the better the shortlist will be. This will inevitably result in fewer journeys to interview, as those deemed unsuitable will be excluded before this stage. Using video to replace the face-to-face interviews will reduce travel, but many hiring managers may consider this a step too far. Perhaps where distances are too great to make face to face interviews practical, or where the seniority of the position does not necessarily warrant a full interview, then video conference interviews can help with the final decision.

However, will a video conference ever be able to give the interviewer the same insight into the candidate as a face to face meeting? That is perhaps a topic for a different discussion.

In summary, along with other techniques to help select of the best candidates, video can play an important part in the recruitment process and may well reduce wasted travel time. The carbon saved from reducing interview journeys always has to be somewhat offset by the increased electricity used to store the videos on computer servers. On the whole though, I think we can claim that video technology does do something to reduce carbon emissions.

This article is brought to you by Interview Coordinator (www.interviewcoordinator.com). Interview Coordinator is designed as a centralised applicant tracking system for use by hiring managers and all the participating campaign collaborators. Along with a multitude of other features, the system uses online video to help save time and costs by streamlining the recruitment process. Users pay on a “per campaign’ basis and the system is currently available on a 60 day FREE trial.

Video Interviews Save Walmart $5m Over Last Two Years

Very interesting article on last Friday's (27th January 2012) edition of www.RecruitingBlogs.com.  Apparently, Walmart has saved over $5million in the last two years through using video technology as a part of their interviewing process. This supports the view of Interview Coordinator who have maintained the position that video interviewing is not only a likely trend with a cost saving benefit, but that there is an associated environmental benefit as well - visit http://www.interviewcoordinator.com/theinterviewer/articles_keeping_it_green.html. Has anyone come across other quantified savings claims through using video interviewing perhaps as part of an online applicant tracking system?

New ‘Key Attribute’ Scoring System Helps Hiring Managers Select the Best Candidates

With its latest ground-breaking new feature, Interview Coordinator, the online interview management and applicant tracking system (www.interviewcoordinator.com), has applied the mindset of Hiring Managers into a software process which evaluates and compares key candidate attributes. A new attribute scoring system provides a structure and printable report designed to help Hiring Managers save valuable time and pick the best person for the vacancy.
Stuart Hobbs, Managing Director comments: “To pick the best candidate, Hiring Managers have to make a series of judgements on a set of key attributes displayed by each applicant. Typical attributes will include; qualifications, experience, character and personal presentation, but each vacancy is different. For some campaigns, the key attributes will be much more specific and some attributes will count more than others.”
“Interview Coordinator now provides an integrated structure whereby key attributes can be decided upon and given a weighting by multiple contributors. It also provides a scoring system where campaign contributors can record their judgements, so that multiple opinions on each candidate can be easily compared and contrasted.”
For each recruitment campaign, Interview Coordinator records a set of key attributes which are essential or desirable within an ideal candidate profile. Pre-prepared questions, designed to highlight strengths or weaknesses, can then be linked to each key attribute. Questions can be answered remotely by video or by a written online submission, or simply used as a base list in face to face interviews.
The answers to each question and each key attribute can then be assigned a score. The relative importance of each attribute is taken into account using a weighted average calculation which provides an overall candidate evaluation for ease of comparison. In addition, the report will identify which contributors gave the low/high marks for each candidate. If required, the Hiring Manager can then consult the contributor to further aid and refine candidate selection.
Interview Coordinator is a cloud-based system available through any browser, on a “pay as you use” basis, for £35 per job campaign. The product is currently available on a 60 day FREE trial.

Reduce Recruitment Costs With New Response System

In response to customer demand, the innovative team at Interview Coordinator (www.interviewcoordinator.com), the online interview management and applicant tracking system, now includes ‘Response Coordinator’. An integrated vacancy content management system (CMS), and candidate response facility. All at no extra cost.
Suitable for companies of all sizes, but primarily aimed at small to medium enterprises (SME’s), the new feature provides an easy way for hiring managers to publish and manage job vacancy content on their own website. It also allows candidates to apply online and upload their CV and cover letter directly into the appropriate campaign on Interview Coordinator.
The new function also makes it easy for hiring managers to publish supporting campaign documentation to the web. Potential candidates can therefore access detailed job specification or FAQ documents which can often refine the calibre of applicants who apply to the advertised role.
Stuart Hobbs, Managing Director of Interview Coordinator comments: “This new feature reduces recruitment administration even further. Less time spent editing websites, less time typing candidate details and uploading their CV’s and potentially, better informed applicants who know more about the job for which they are applying.”
For vacancies advertised on jobsites or in more traditional media, the system will generate a unique URL which can be used as part of the advert response instructions. By using the URL, candidates can automatically upload their application into Interview Coordinator.
As there is no extra cost for this additional vacancy management and response mechanism, the new enhanced system is especially attractive. Payment is made per job campaign and with prices starting at just £35 or less, this represents only a very small proportion of the normal budget for a recruitment campaign. Not only very affordable, the system suits any browser and is currently available on a 60 day FREE trial.

The VITAL guide to video interviews: 'L' - Legalities & Lighting

The last few years have seen significant growth in the use of video technology to help pick the best candidates for a job vacancy. Employers and recruitment agencies can now make use of video to pre-screen candidates to help narrow down an initial candidate pool to a manageable short list. New online software has made the process streamlined and very efficient, saving time and travel costs for all those connected with a recruitment campaign.

However this relatively new form of candidate screening has meant that both the interviewer and the interviewee will need to focus on new techniques to judge candidates or impress prospective employers respectively. This guide sets out some of the V.I.T.A.L elements to bear in mind when judging or creating video answers to interview questions.

For the interviewer ... Legal responsibilities

Remember that the interview should embrace the full scope of equality and diversity.

For the interviewee ...Lighting and the environment
Ensure the room is well lit, with any prominent light source behind or to the side of the camera. Make sure the wall behind you is clean and clear of posters or pictures and the desk is clear.
Keep things plain and also ensure that mobiles and TV’s are all turned off. If you have pets or children, do keep them (safely) away from the interview room so you are not distracted.

Thanks for reading our VITAL guide to video interviewing, which was was brought to you by Interview Coordinator (http://www.interviewcoordinator.com/) a leading provider of interview collaboration software for recruitment and interview management.
